Referencia catastral and valor catastral

Referencia catastral

Your home’s ID in the Catastro: 20 characters. In a town, the first 14 locate the parcel, the next 4 the property on it, and the last 2 check the rest. Deeds must state it, and Modelo 210 asks for it.

Valor catastral

The value the Catastro gives your home, usually well below its market price. Your town’s IBI is worked out from it, and so is the Modelo 210 of a home you don’t rent out: 1.1% or 2% of it, depending on when your town last revised its values.

Where to find them

Both are usually on your town’s IBI receipt. The referencia catastral is also on your title deed and on the Catastro’s certificates. The valor catastral, being protected, is also on the Sede Electrónica del Catastro.

Why we can’t show your valor catastral

It is protected data (art. 51 of the Catastro law): only the owner, and the few others the law lists, such as heirs, may see it. The Catastro’s free web services, which this page uses, give everything else.

  1. 1Open the Sede Electrónica del Catastro: it exists in English, to pick at the top of the page.
  2. 2Log in with Cl@ve or a digital certificate. The Catastro’s own “clave concertada” needs a Spanish DNI.
  3. 3Look up your property: the Sede shows its valor catastral and gives you a free certificate (certificación catastral).

No Cl@ve or certificate? The value is usually on your IBI receipt; a Punto de Información Catastral, often at the town hall, can give it to you (some charge a fee); or write to a Gerencia del Catastro.

País Vasco and Navarra: their own cadastres

Álava, Bizkaia, Gipuzkoa and Navarra keep their own cadastres, outside the Dirección General del Catastro: look your home up there.

Questions about the Catastro

Write to us
  • Is this the official Catastro?

No: CasitaTax is a private service. This page asks the free web services of the Dirección General del Catastro and shows their answer. The official site is the Sede Electrónica del Catastro.

  • Why doesn’t my address find anything?

Type the street’s name without its type (“Mayor” rather than “Calle Mayor”), as the Catastro writes it: often in Spanish or the regional language. A home outside a town, on a polígono and parcela, is easier to find by its referencia catastral.

  • Is the referencia catastral the land registry number?

No. The Registro de la Propiedad gives each property its own number, the finca registral; the referencia catastral is the Catastro’s. Your deed shows both.

  • Do I need it for Modelo 210?

Yes: the return identifies the home by its referencia catastral, and works out the notional income of a home you don’t rent out from its valor catastral.

  • Do you keep my address?

No. Our server passes it to the Catastro and sends the answer back to your browser, without keeping either. Our statistics only learn the province and whether a home was found.
